Rx levels change all of a sudden

    Hi can someone pls explain the concept of path balance and how does a poor path balance effect the call scenario

    Hi Aadil,

    Apologies for delay, was out for conference.

    Well, it looks like a normal freq or hardware problem. Ideally its best to check the h/w.

    If you have an access to BSSND, take out report 208 with all the default values for a particular BTS where you have those sudden change problems.

    The diff between ul&dl should not be high.

    Hi Rajesh,

    Your cell parameters are designed considering your link budget calculations. In link budget we make appropriate changes so that losses in ul & dl are same and the difference (pathloss) is zero (for MS perception).

    If you have pathloss which is either +ve or -ve (higher values, depending on the site locations) then you have path imbalance which causes problems in the link making it unstable.

    Though there are some exceptions for living with high PB values.

    it means the uplink path and the downlink path are balanced, accordingly to their respective Rx, Tx and losses… it is linked to the concept of link budget.
