what is a B-channel in ISDN

    when you need to place a call via ISDN you reserve a voice B-channel and then wait until the establishment of a call. My question is, can the assignment of the B-channel be effected at the very end of the call establishment procedure – when the call is already answered and the network is ready to connect?
