It is not number constraint. Suppose if I want to connect 100 BTS and these 100 BTS are connected to 20 BSC. please reply friends

    Hi vijay,
Consider the following scenrio if i am connecting the 1 BTS to the BSC through using 2 E1’s.How many E1’s should i connect between BSC and MSC.

I know that using one BSC we can connect many TRX’s.So consider the above scenrio plz

    I am serious now…I am a switch Guy…let me give you what I know…

Dear Porkodi ( Are you from TamilNadu ),

    Lets Say :-
    ***********

    1 BTS with 2+2+2 Configuration.
    2+2+2 Means 3 Sectors and 2 ARFCN/TRX Per Sector.

So Per Sector 2*8 Time slots.
So that BTS has 2*8*3 TimeSlots.

    Total TS=48 in AIR Interface.
In each sector dedicate 2 TS For BCCH and SDDCH.

So remaining = 48-(2*3)=42 Speech TS in AIR Interface.

    Rgds…TBC…

Now Between BTS and BSC :
    *************************

Lets say One PCM is there.
BTS Can put 4 Air Interface TimeSlots ( 16 K) in one PCM TimeSlot (64k).

    Got it…

So 42 AIR TS fixed in 11 PCM TS.
Ok add one more PCM TS For BCCH+SDDCH.(Let me be lavish)

So Total 12 PCM TS for One BTS with 2+2+2 Config.

    Ok…

    TBC…

    Now Between BSC-TRA-MSC :-
    **************************

    BSC Recives those ( 12 PCM TS[64 k] ) 42 AIR TS in 16 K Rate.

BSC Have to transfer them to 64 K Rate for MSC SWITCHING PURPOSE.

    BSC connects TRA Internally ( ERICSSON SWITCH).42 AIR TS in 16 K transfered to 42 – 64 K TimeSlot.

So you need 2 PCMs between BSC and MSC ( still arnd 18/19 TS will be free for you ).

    …..What do you think guys.
I should charge USD-500 as training FEE.

What if Between BTS and BSC, you’ve got E1 link (instead of One PCM)?
Since you have 42 Speech TS in AIR Interface, you will need 2x E1, agree?

    Vijay, is below summary correct?

    Between BTS and BSC :

    Between BSC-TRA-MSC :
    *********************
    Also need 2 PCMs

    HI Neuil,

Nice Question.I cannopt give you exact things…but for basics..

    Between BTS and BSC :
    *********************

    Number of TS =NTS

    Number of PCM = (NTS/4)/30

    Round it to next Integer.

Like if you get 0.7 RESULT=1.
    If you gert 1.3 RESULT=2.
Thi is not exact but use this for gainming knowledge. In practical…you may see different things.

    Between BSC(TRA)-MSC :
    *********************

Think that TRA Always inside BSC.

Number of Ater/A Interface PCM =

( Number of Traffic TS in AIR Interface ) / 30.

    This is BASICs ok…
