N7/SCCP carries all signalling messages that can be exchanged between BSC and MSC (CONNECTION REQUEST, HO REQUIRED, ASSIGNMENT REQUEST, RELEASED, AUTHENTICATION, CIPHERING, etc…). It also carries SMS (am I correct ?? i remember this…) 🙂
All other timeslots carry data or voice.
