I’m not using Ericsson, but Alcatel. However the effect of adding more SDCCH capacity in a multiband cell is definitely a good way to reduce congestion.
You could use other solutions, such as dynamic SDCCH, or find a way to reduce your signalling load (reduce the location updates, reduce the dummy RACH, etc)
