You also need to look at RAN VNF and Cloud. The traditional RAN Network is now being transformed to a collection of Data Centers with RAN VNFs that can be scaled using the capability of ETSI MANO.

4G / 5G will need a AI / ML layer for predictive fault handling. Traditional RAN engineers will need to be familiar with Data Science.

Look also at initiatives from TIP and Open-RAN. This will allow IT organisations to build and integrate RAN VNF software.
