calls that can be handled by TRX in GSM

Hi Anurag

The number of calls that can be handled by a TRX depends on the number of channels defined on it, if all 8 channels are defined as Full Rate TCH then 8 calls and if 8 Half rate TCH then it can take 16 calls at one time.

Hi rajababu,


if u use combined BCCH
then u have 7 TCHs
then minimum 7 full rate calls
maximum 14 half rate calls

then no of calls vary 7 to 14

if u use uncombined then one time slot for BCCH one for SDCCH

then u have 6 free time slots for TCH
then u can make 6 minimum full rate calls
and 12 maximum half rate calls

then no of calls vary 6 to 12

For Full Rate speeach codec:

Up to 7 TCH.

For Half-Rate: - up to 14.

depends on what kit you use a nokia ultra will allow 7 TCH with 1 combined SD&BCch

my question is

how many simultaneous calls can be handled by a single transceiver of a BTS in a GSM network.
