Introduction to VoIP Lite
|
 |
 |
|
| VoIP Lite is our budget Voice over IP bandwidth calculator, which we are
offering for $39 (USD). It is a cut down version of
our advanced telecommunications calculator VoIP
Select. The programme consists of a single window, with tabs to select between the
Lines and IP Bandwidth Calculator and the Erlangs and IP Bandwidth Calculator.
Whilst not offering the advanced features of VoIP
Select such as customisable calculators, printed reports and database support, VoIP
Lite offers a low cost and accurate alternative for VoIP calculations.
The calculators, which require Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista or
Windows 7 are available for 39 US Dollars for immediate
download. Click here to find out how to purchase. |

Lines and IP Bandwidth Calculator
|
 |
 |
|
The Lines and IP Bandwidth Calculator calculates the bandwidth that
should be provided through an IP-based network for a given number of voice channels.
Reverse calculations are also possible to calculate the number of voice paths that can be
derived from an IP based connection of a known bandwidth. The calculator works up
to 100,000 Lines and 20,000 Mbps!
 |
 |
| "How much bandwidth in Mbps should I
provide through an IP based network to carry 600 voice paths? I am using the G.729A
codec. I am using cRTP header compression to reduce the packet header to 4 octets
and one packet is being transmitted in each direction every 20 milliseconds."
Answer - 5.76Mbps |
More information is available in the illustrated User Guide. Also, the Technical specification is available.

Erlangs and IP Bandwidth Calculator
|
 |
 |
|
The Erlangs and IP Bandwidth Calculator calculates the bandwidth that
should be provided through an IP-based network to transport a known traffic volume in
Erlangs or CCS. Reverse calculations are also possible to calculate the busy hour
traffic that can be offered to a group of lines derived from an IP link of a known
bandwidth. The calculator works up to 25,000 Erlangs and 20,000 Mbps!
 |
 |
| How much bandwidth in Mbps should I
provide through an IP based network to carry if 522.1 Erlangs of traffic is offered to the
system in its busiest hour. I am using the G.729A codec. I am using cRTP
header compression to reduce the packet header to 2 octets and one packet is being
transmitted in each direction every 30 milliseconds. I accept that 1% of calls will
be blocked. Answer - 4.685Mbps |

| VoIP Lite is provided with a fully formatted and illustrated User Guide which is
distributed electronically in the form of Web pages. This User Guide explains how to use
the calculators and offers many examples of their use. There is also a Windows help system
installed with the software. You can view the illustrated User Guide now to find out more about how the calculator
