Setting routes

Print this Topic Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

When analysing a network, Westplan assumes that calls will always be routed through a network

over the shortest path.  This is not always the case, and by clicking the Routing Set tab, you have

the opportunity of defining your own routing rules.

To set a new routing rule between two nodes, move the cursor over first of the two nodes.

When the icon representing that node appears 'pressed down', left click the mouse.  Keeping the

left mouse button pressed, trace the required route using the cursor, passing it over the nodes

through which the traffic between the two nodes should be routed.

As each new link is accepted as part of the new route, it will become highlighted.  When you

have reached the destination node release the mouse button and confirm your new route when

prompted to do so.  You can confirm that you new rule has been accepted by testing the route.

You can see a list of all routing rules you have defined for the current network by clicking on the Routing Report tab.
