Example project

An example project is installed with Westplan and can be used to learn about Westplan's features. The project is called East Coast Project, and contains one network called Network 1. This network is shown in both of the Westplan images on this page.

The example project relates to an imaginary private network with three locations on the East Coast of the United States of America: Manhattan, Brooklyn and Boston. Manhattan and Brooklyn both have IPBXs that directly support IP connections. These IPBXs are inter-connected using a link carrying IP and are both connected to the local PSTN using T1 digital trunks. The PBX at Boston does not directly support IP, and connects to the Manhattan IPBX through a locally installed VoIP Gateway. Both the Gateway and the PBX are connected to the local PSTN using T1 trunks.

For the sake of simplicity, the example project is an enterprise network. Westplan can be applied equally well to the modelling and analysis of carrier networks in any country.
